How To Clean Your Glass Dining Table And Prevent It From Getting Damaged

As far as furniture is concerned, there is almost nothing that can compare to the beauty and elegance of a glass dining table. These tables are timeless treasures and were often passed on from generation to generation. Over the years manufacturers realized the increasing popularity of glass dining table sets, and now they suppliers offer a broad variety of all different kind of glass dining room tables of a wide spectrum of colors, shapes and sizes. Of course, considering the glass top of those tables, there is a higher risk of scratches is you don’t pay enough attention.

Here are a few tips that you should keep in mind when you just purchased a new glass dining table and chairs. Keep the surface clean. Which seems to be the most obvious ting in the world, especially with glass dining tables you need to pay extra attention as you can easily see dirt, debris stains and fingerprints. To ensure a thorough cleaning that does not damage your glass top dining table, use a soft damp sponge with warm water and a little bit of soap.

Do not use your regular kitchen sponge for hygiene and practical reasons - once the water on glass surface dries you usually see all the scum after wards. Periodically, use some sodium bicarbonate dissolved in lukewarm water. Apply it thoroughly and then dry the glass surface with a soft sponge or leather rag. This helps keeping the finish looking fresh and the glass in mint condition so that even future generations can continue to enjoy the traditional family dinner at the same table. Finally, you have to make sure to protect the glass on the table from scratches that may occur. This is particularly important because when the glass gets damaged, it is practically impossible to repair it.

With a vast selection of decorative and inexpensive glass dining table covers or table-cloths, it is easy enough to find a suitable solution for your dining room table. This will help to protect the glass surface. Alternatively, you may consider getting a transparent plastic cover. However, I personally don’t like them as they just don’t look that great.

As I mentioned before, those tables come in all different sizes and shapes. I find the round glass dining table sets very attractive, but to be honest with you, with our two kids and considering the scratches and dents we have in our current dining table, which is made of wood, I am not sure if I would seriously consider buying one at this point. Also, I am not sure how it would work when guests come over, even though I have heard that some furniture stores actually offer good quality extending glass dining tables.
Again, at this point with the two kids and the two dogs it just seems to be a little bit too risky. But a little bit down the road, I can definitely see my wife and I heading out to a decorative dining table made of glass.

Round Glass Dining Table

Round Glass Dining Tables combine the modern look of the new age while also resembling the classy-chic and contemporary style that is wanted by many homeowners these days. They are simple, yet, elegant, which adds a new and fresh spin to the concept fine dining.
Most of the renowned manufacturers build their round glass dining table following a straight forward concept: the table surface is made of a quality glass top piece, a pull-out extension and either four round or square columns. It certainly depends on your personal taste and functional requirements; however, I would recommend that you go with a sturdy metal frame when you look for a glass top dining table because this will ensure that the glass surface gets the extra support it needs.
Round dining tables are not suitable everywhere. They definitely need more space than tables of rectangular or square shape.

Glass Dining Table Sets

You can get some real good deals on glass dining table sets online. I think it is actually better to buy a whole set of glass dining table and chairs as opposed to just the table. I’m not saying that it is impossible to combine a glass table with chairs made of other material, however, it you need to be careful that you don’t try to mix pieces of furniture that don’t go well together. Rustic oak-wood chairs for instance might just spoil a thin and rather basic glass dining table.
